A business spin to P!nk’s new song “Try”

January 14, 2013

I love P!nk’s new song “Try”. It is about the truth of love. The more I listen, the more I believe this pop culture lyrics can also be applied to the business world. Here is my interpretation from the business angle:
Try-lyrics-1

Ever wonder why your boss does not tell you the truth sometimes! It might be for your own good. Honest opinions or facts are sometimes really hard to swallow. Remember Jack Nicholson’s famous line in the movie A Few Good Men “You can’t handle the truth!”  Not seeking for facts could be a good healthy move to your body and soul.

Try-lyrics-2

We gotta have a flame in our mind to start something – the desire to conquer the world, a project, a relationship, etc. If there is no flame, there is no passion. Why bother!

Try-lyrics-3

Now, we have tried and failed. Are we going to be beaten down down down. Or are we going to try try try. In real world, it will be really lucky to be successful on the first trial. So, keep on chugging with a positive attitude!

Try-lyrics-4

We are facing with deceiving ideas every day – people approach us with their own agenda in mind. We need to spend time doing our homework (i.e. due diligence). Don’t bet on luck or mercy. There is no free lunch in this world. If a deal is too good to be true, it is simply just too good to be true. Get real! This is how we learn – by making mistakes and survive from those mistakes.

Try-lyrics-5

To all who work for someone right now, would disappointment make you a “get by”  person? If getting by is what we are doing, we have lost our passion. We should either give up on what we are doing or go find something that is worth our time. Life is short! Try something that you are passionate. If it fails, that’s fine! The most important part is that you’ve tried.

This is an interesting take on one of my favourite songs and it ends with some words all of us should live by. Read and enjoy.
