{No. 115} Picture of the Wind

January 6, 2014

Capturing wind

Wind is just movement of air mass. It does not have color, smell or shape. How do photographers take pictures of wind?

Back in the old days, we did not have video recorder (camcorder, phone, etc.) The trick is to make use of the motion blur of physical substances like tree limbs, clothes, umbrella, etc to show the existence of wind. When looking at a picture like the above, our brain would start to imagine and complete the story for us. So, here it is, a picture I took from a very windy yesterday. The wind chill was at the mid-20s.

I know half of the country is in frigid temperature right now. So, stay warm, my friend.
